Courses are delivered with flexibility in mind — either at one our learning hubs, in the work place, via self–study and home learning or a combination depending on your needs.

Short intensive courses

The College, under the brand name b solutions, provides specialist short courses for industry across many sectors including Care, Health and Safety, Hospitality & Licence Trade, Hydraulics, Refrigeration and Welding. Courses can be tailor made according to your own needs. In 2013 the College and Stork Technical Services jointly won the UK Oil and Gas Industry Safety Awards award for establishing an industry-first in Temporary Refuge (TR) Testing City & Guilds Qualification.

Modern Apprenticeships

Our Modern Apprenticeship programme is one of the largest in Scotland with over 500 apprenticeships in place across the automotive, engineering, hairdressing, sport & leisure and maritime sectors.

Embarking on the Modern Apprenticeship programme is an ideal way of allowing employees to gain skills and industry approved qualifications appropriate to the job they hold without having to study full–time. The programme supports your business to train your employees and also provides financial assistance.

Part–Time and vocational courses

We offer many of our full–time courses on a part time basis, generally on a day release or block release basis. In addition we have an ever expanding portfolio of courses that are purely work–based allowing employees to gain a vocational qualification without leaving the workplace. Distance and Blended Learning

Over 100+ self–study courses are available across a wide variety of subjects for anyone who wishes to further their career outside of a traditional training environment. This is attractive to businesses who wish to support employee progression on a flexible basis.

Distance or open learning courses, as they are sometimes known, are a way of allowing individuals the opportunity to progress at a time and place that fits in with the demands of everyday living. It's ideal for those who are unable to attend conventional classes due to work, time or distance constraints. Learners work though the course details independently with the support of distance learning tutors.

Blended learning entails a mix of home study and direct contact with tutors within College throughout the course.

Maritime courses

The College's Scottish Maritime Academy in Peterhead is recognised as one of Scotland's premier maritime education and training providers serving the fishing, energy and commercial sectors. As well as classroom gained qualifications the Academy offers combined distance learning/classroom options plus the development of bespoke courses according to the needs of your organisation.

Employability

As a College we work with programmes that are dedicated to helping those out of work acquire and develop the skills to find future employment. Placements are an important part of this process and we are very interested in hearing from companies who would like to work with us in this area.
