DESCRIPTION
Computers aren't completely baffling to you, but you know you still have a long way to go. Computing for the Quietly Confident provides the training you need to be not only confident, but successful in your computing efforts. This may be the first step towards a new career or a promotion. Maybe you just want to discover what you've been missing out on. Whatever your aims, you'll benefit from your broad range of new computer skills. This course will be delivered using Microsoft Office 2007.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
Students should have some basic computing knowledge. The ideal learner will be familiar with a keyboard and a mouse and can navigate basic applications such as Microsoft Word. This course is a suitable follow-on from Computing for the Terrified.

COURSE AIMS
This course is designed to provide students with a firm understanding of Microsoft Office applications. Learners should finish the course with a good grasp of word processing and the basics of using spreadsheets.
COURSE CONTENT
Course content may be tailored by the tutor to meet the needs of individual groups of learners. Content will include:
- More exploration of Microsoft Word: formatting and aligning text, changing styles and changing colour.
- Working with Images: image types for Word documents; inserting ClipArt and pictures; positioning and moving clipart and pictures in documents.
- Introduction to spreadsheets: opening, closing and saving worksheets and files; working with numbers and using simple formulas to add, subtract, divide and multiply numbers; and printing worksheet
- Creating graphs to represent your spreadsheet information in graphical format
Successful completion of this course also attracts an SQA Award - normally F3GC 08 Information and Communication Technology (Core Skill).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but it is assumed that students will have some basic computer knowledge and may have completed the Computing for the Terrified course.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
On completion of this course students could progress to Computing for the Courageous or one of the ECDL courses.
