DESCRIPTION
Producing your own fine art is a relaxing hobby and a great way to interact with your surroundings. A love for art is the only requirement for this introductory course to painting and drawing.
Develop a latent talent, or discover a new one. Gain the satisfaction of completing your own masterpiece and the confidence that comes from publicly displaying your work. Progress to more sophisticated techniques as your abilities develop.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
Students with a keen interest in painting and drawing. No previous experience is required, but courses are designed to accommodate all skill levels and do progress to offer more advanced training.

COURSE AIMS
This course is intended to develop students' artistic abilities and to foster their appreciation and understanding of visual arts. On completion of the course students should each have a portfolio of completed works and may have the opportunity to display their work.
COURSE CONTENT
In addition to plenty of hands-on practice, students will explore a range of topics related to painting and drawing, including:
- selecting appropriate paint and materials
- drawing techniques
- use of colour, composition, line and tone
- mixed-media techniques
- watercolour and opaque painting
- portraiture, figure composition, landscapes, still life and abstract
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but it is assumed that students will have an interest in art.
