DESCRIPTION

Location Photography is a practical class where an equal portion of time is spent on three areas of Photography.  Image capture is done on location in class time and as a complete group.  Image editing is carried out in class and is intended to give you the time to practice any new or previous techniques you may be interested in with the support of your tutor.  Image review is done in the form of a class critique exercise where all students share the images that they captured and edited in the previous classes.  As this is done on a three week rotation there are numerous opportunities to explore a variety of locations and utilise various techniques with the support of your tutor.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

Students with some background and knowledge of photography.  This course is a natural progression from Digital Photography for the Creative or Purely Photoshop.  Students should ideally have their own camera or be contemplating purchase.

COURSE AIMS

This location photography course will take many of the practical skills collected on previous courses or personal experience and allow you to develop them further.  By working on location there will be the opportunity to work real time and with a small group of likeminded individuals.  Group discussions will allow each student to gain experience from the work of others.

COURSE CONTENT

Using a range of Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 tools and applications, students will work with their own digital images.  Building on skills learned in previous courses, students will use layers and Adobe Camera RAW to creatively enhance and manipulate their photographic work.

Students will work on the importance of lighting and composition as they capture, edit and organise their own digital image files.

The course uses Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 photo editing software and students will be advised of the benefits and practicalities of purchasing their own copy.  Some experience of Elements 6 would be an advantage.  Ideally, students should have their own camera.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students are strongly recommended to have completed Digital Photography for the Creative or Purely Photoshop.  Students must have computer knowledge, keyboard and mouse skills, sound understanding of MS Windows XP file management and have access to a computer at home.  Experience of Elements 6 and the use of layers would be an advantage.  When on location students must be able to meet the tutor at the venue.
