COURSE AIMS

To develop good pc maintenance skills, hardware problem solving skills and to promote and develop safe and secure practices online and offline.

COURSE CONTENT

Course content will cover the following aspects of maintaining your personal computer:

  • The importance of maintaining your computer
  • Problem solving - hardware and software
  • Using Knowledge Base and the Internet to find answers
  • Computer terminology
  • Starting/shutting down your computer safely
  • Peripheral device solutions
  • Installing and uninstalling hardware & software
  • PC Security - Anti-Virus software, firewalls, Wireless Network and data security
  • Good file management

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, students should have good basic computing skills and be comfortable with the Windows Operating Environment.

PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Successful student may wish to progress on to other computing courses.
