DESCRIPTION

Gain knowledge, skills and qualifications in social sciences which can be used as first steps towards full-time studies in the social sciences at College which could then eventually lead to employment or even university.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

This is ideal for students who wish to develop basic core skills through studying social sciences. Students will gain introductory knowledge and skills of subjects such as sociology, psychology and modern studies that will provide an excellent stepping stone towards future full time studies.

COURSE AIMS

This course has been specifically designed to enable students to gain skills and knowledge in the social sciences. The course will also help develop self confidence, core and soft study skills that are all key requirements that help successful students progress into full-time education at College.

Throughout the course you will be encouraged to develop the 4 capacities of the Curriculum for Excellence, to be effective contributors, confident individuals, responsible citizens and successful learners

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Although there are no formal entry requirements, standard grades at a minumum of general level or equivalent would be desirable.

PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Students may progress to a full-time Social Sciences course subject to successful completion of this course.
