DESCRIPTION
Completion of the course will allow successful students to follow a career in the private or public sector as technicians in the mechanical engineering industry, or undertake study at a higher level.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This course is suitable for those with Highers, especially in mathematics or have successfully completed a relevant non-advanced College course. For those returning to education, life skills and experience in the workplace may allow entry subject to availability.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
This course is designed for students who would like to gain a qualification in Mechanical Engineering and gain an insight into the wide range of industrial equipment which is essential to many industries in the UK, including the Oil and Gas sector. Time is spent in both labs and classrooms learning the skills and knowledge required of technicians working within the various mechanical areas of UK industry.

This course is mainly assessed on a continuous basis and does not include an external end-of-course examination. Coursework takes the form of essays, reports, presentations, case studies and practical projects. Most of the assessment of student work is undertaken by College staff.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Partnerships with several universities allow successful candidates to be considered for direct entry to year 3 of appropriate degree courses. Employment opportunities may include employment as trainees within the mechanical engineering industry.
