DESCRIPTION

This course is aimed at candidates wishing to pursue a career within the contemporary music industry. The course is designed to introduce candidates to a wide range of musical subjects relevant to working in today's music industry and to foster the development of entrepreneurship through project realisation.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is suitable for those with two Highers, including Music, who have completed a non-advanced College course in Music. For those returning to education, life skills and experience in the workplace may allow entry subject to availability. You will be invited to attend an informal audition.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

This course is aimed at candidates wishing to work within the contemporary music industry, and is designed to introduce candidates to a wide range of musical subjects. The course comprises of a range of subjects including: Live Performance (solo/band), Studio Recording, Practical Musicianship, Songwriting and Music Theory.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

This course is mainly assessed on a continuous basis. Coursework takes the form of essays, reports, presentations, case studies and practical projects. Most of the assessment of student work is undertaken by College staff.

PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Students may progress to HND Music. Employment opportunities may include employment as performers, promoters, technicians, producers and composers.
