Full-time

A typical full-time course will require you to spend at least 20 hours a week at college over a 38 week period each year. They are offered in a number of different levels starting from an introductory level (e.g. Introduction to Social Sciences) to a Higher National Diploma (e.g. HND Social Sciences).

Part-time

Part-time courses come in all shapes and sizes. They can be vocational or just for fun, taught in a college centre or in a number of community locations. They are offered during the day and in the evening and some are offered at weekends. The one thing that they have in common is that they are all taught courses.

Self Study

These courses are ideal if you are unable to attend conventional classes due to work, time or distance constraints. They cover a wide range of subjects and are offered at different levels. For most, tutor support is available, some may also require you to attend a class - or tutorial, but you will be expected to work on your own and submit work when required.

SELF STUDY COURSES

The “Skills for Work” pilot has now successfully completed and Aberdeen College is offering a wide range of these courses to school pupils across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. “Skills for Work” is an exciting addition to the schools curriculum, offering school pupils an opportunity to undertake an accredited Scottish Qualifications Authority vocational course with clear progression routes to full time College courses and/or to employment. These courses are offered in partnership with schools.
