DESCRIPTION
This is the first part of a 2-part programme, leading to the HNC Administration and Information Technology. The HNC Administration and Information Technology offers an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking employment in organisations which require core skills competence and transferable IT skills. With the rapid growth of ICT and the increased emphasis given to information processing and management, these courses give greater emphasis on continuing professional development, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
The group award provides wide-ranging opportunities for vocational employment and can lead to entry on a variety of higher education programmes.
COURSE CONTENT
Students will undertake 6 credits which will contribute to the overall HNC award.
- Office Administration (1 credit)
- Office Technologies (1 credit)
- Communication: Analysing and Presenting Complex Communication (1 credit)
- IT in Business: Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Databases: An Introduction (1 credit)
- IT in Business: Word Processing and Presentation Applications (2 credits)
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS OR GUIDANCE REQUIRED
This course is suitable for those with Highers, or who have completed the Higher syllabus or have successfully completed a non-advanced College course. For those returning to education, life skills and experience in the workplace may allow entry subject to availability.
CERTIFICATION
This course is mainly assessed on a continuous basis and does not include an external end-of-course examination. Coursework takes the form of essays, reports, presentations, case studies and practical projects. Most of the assessment of student work is undertaken by College staff.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I.E. MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT ETC
Students must supply a 1 GB memory stick.
PROGRESSION
Students would be expected to progress to part 2 of the HNC programme which provides the opportuntity to complete a further 6 credits for the HNC group award.
