DESCRIPTION
This Higher National Certificate is aimed at students who either have been out of education for some time or who want to improve their qualifications whilst continuing in employment. Progression for this course is to the HND Electrical Engineering.
COURSE CONTENT
Units include Single Phase AC Circuits and Electricity Power Systems. These units are designed to enable candidates to develop knowledge and understanding and apply basic electrical concepts and theorems to the solution of simple electrical problems. Maths for Engineering is also included and this unit helps students apply algebraic techniques to manipulate expressions and solve equations commonly found in engineering.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS OR GUIDANCE REQUIRED
Candidates who recently left schools should hold a Higher in Maths or Physics or a National Certificate in Electrical Engineering. Candidates without these qualifications who are returning to education and may be working in industry will be expected to complete the Pre Entry Course for Electrical Engineering. CERTIFICATION
On completion of this course students will be awarded a Higher National Certificate.

PROGRESSION
On completion of this course students may apply for the HND in Electrical Engineering.
