Academic Year 2010/2011 sees a positive growth in Aberdeen College's School Link activities with schools in both Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.

The "Skills for Work" pilot has now successfully completed and Aberdeen College is offering a wide range of these courses to school pupils across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. "Skills for Work" is an exciting addition to the schools curriculum, offering school pupils an opportunity to undertake an accredited Scottish Qualifications Authority vocational course with clear progression routes to full time College courses and/or to employment. These courses are offered in partnership with schools.

Vocational Courses
The courses below are offered as part of the weekly timetable for S3, S4 and S5 pupils. Courses are delivered over either one or two Academic Years, as shown below:
Courses which are delivered over 1 year:

Curriculum Enhancement
The following courses are also offered as part of the normal school timetable, and generally take place within schools, taught by a member of College staff.
Short Course Provision
The following short course provision is also available for delivery in College or School upon individual requests from Schools. These courses will be delivered over a number of days or weeks until complete.
- First Aid and Emergency Procedures
- Sports Leadership Certificate
- Community Sports Leader (min age 16)
- Working with Others
- IT Core Skills
- Build Your Own PC
- HN unit in Personal Development (SCQF) S6 pupils only
- REHIS (One day course)
- Community involvement/citizenship
College Experience
In addition to the courses outlined above, which operate throughout the school year, College Experience Taster Courses are also provided by the College in May and June. These courses last between one and three days and offer pupils about to start S4 a fantastic opportunity to find out more about courses are available at Aberdeen College should they be considering Further Education at the end of Secondary 4.

Support for Learning
In addition to the range of courses listed above, Aberdeen College also provides School Link courses for pupils with additional learning needs who are in their final year of school, to support the transition from school to College.
