Fitness Suite
Sports and exercise have an important role to play in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and in order to promote and encourage the health and wellbeing of our students and staff, Aberdeen College provide excellent fitness and gym facilities at our 4 centres.
At our Gallowgate centre, located on the seventh floor of the tower block, our sports facilities are available to all staff and students at lunchtimes, evenings and at times when they are not being used by our sports students for their studies.
Fitness suites are also available at Altens, Clinterty & the Gordon centres.
The following indoor sports can be played in the gym hall area:
- 5-a-side football
- Basketball
- Badminton
- Volleyball
- Unihock
Exercise classes are also taught in the gym hall. These include:

Legs, Bums & Tums
After a short simple aerobic warm up, a combination of easy to follow exercises focus on improving muscular endurance and tone in the legs, stomach and bottom. -
ABS Blast
A short class dedicated to toning and strengthening the muscles in the abdominal and lower back area for a firmer body and better posture. -
Step n Tone
A great calorie burning class involving a variety of movements of different intensity on and around the step that's good for co-ordination as well as the muscles of the thighs and bums. -
Circuits
A variety of conditioning exercises combining resistance & aerobic exercise for the whole body workout. All fitness levels catered for. -
Tai Chi
Tai Chi – is not only fun but beneficial to your health, your social skills and your general well-being. Regular participation is shown to lower the risk of cardiovascular illness, strengthen bones and improve mood.
Students who wish to use the gym hall area for any sports are required to organise the activity by emailing sport@abcol.ac.uk.

Fitness Assessments
Throughout certain times of the year, staff and students are invited to take advantage of fitness tests run by our students. These allow the individual to assess their current level of fitness and have a specially designed programme of exercise to match their capabilities.
Exercise Prescription
Instructors are available to deliver personal training programmes. Please enquire by emailing sport@abcol.ac.uk
