Birmingham Exhibition 2009
Aberdeen College engaged in collaboration with the CYNETart Multimedia Festival, ESB mediencollege Dresden and Medienkulturzentrum Dresden, organiser of a Youth Festival and the Multimedia Youth competition MB21-Bildwelten, in order to facilitate the PAVE project.
This multiple collaboration allowed six Video Production and five Photography students a unique opportunity to showcase their coursework, develop free workshops for the general public at different levels of proficiency and take part in the above referred Multimedia competition.
Both CYNETart and MB21-mediale Bildwelten are also seen as a chance for the future artists to build on their employability skills by becoming familiar with the business and marketing side of their chosen profession through assisting with the organisation of CYNETart festival, networking and collaborating with ESB mediencollege students as well as with fellow festival exhibitors and Art promoters.
By undertaking these activities Aberdeen College assisted the students in:
- facilitating future employability and transferable skills,
- promoting European citizenship,
- aiding student retention and educational attainment,
- encouraging the use of technical foreign language in vocational education.
Dresden 2008
Two Aberdeen College lecturers accompanied the students from 24 October to 8 November 2008 and job shadowed their German counterparts with the aim of observing best teaching/learning practice at ESB mediencollege, where the students also benefit from attending practical classes and developing a joint Art project. It is expected the PAVE project will lead to long-term collaboration between the institutions involved.
