Pre-arrival Guide for International Students

Aberdeen College is the largest Further Education college in Scotland, with around 36,000 enrolments each year. Our international students are mainly based within our department for teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), but we also have students from out with the UK studying for a range of qualifications across the College. With students from countries ranging from China to Venezuela and Kazakhstan to South Africa, the student population reflects the cosmopolitan nature of the city of Aberdeen itself.

There is an excellent range of facilities on offer within the College, including: a well-stocked library; a large, modern IT Centre, housing computers with the latest software; a gym and fitness suite; a variety of catering facilities, offering both hot and cold food; a small shop, selling stationery, snacks and newspapers; medical facilities; and a Students’ Association, which organises a variety of activities during term-time.

While studying at the College you will have the support of your lecturers with your course work. If you are a full time student you will also be assigned a guidance tutor who will be on hand to help sort out any problems you may experience. In addition you can also seek the assistance of the College’s International Student Adviser who is part of the large Learner Services team.
