Making an Application to College
You can access information on courses at Aberdeen College on the College website or by telephoning our Information and Booking Centre and requesting a prospectus to be sent out to you (tel 01224 612330).
The College offers a range of full time, part time and self-study courses, giving students the opportunity to study at a time, place and pace that suits them. A huge variety of subject areas are on offer, from art and design to radio broadcasting and engineering to hairdressing. Courses are offered at a variety of levels, from basic skill courses designed to suit those with no formal qualifications to Higher National Diplomas (HND). The College also runs both full time and part time courses in English for Speakers of Other Languages. This is ideal for those whose English is not their first language and who want to progress to a university or a mainstream College course wishing to improve their current level of English. Please note that the College will only offer the pre-intermediate (Intermediate 1) and intermediate (Intermediate 2) levels on the full time ESOL course in 2013/14 academic year.
You can apply online for full time and part time courses. Part time application forms can be downloaded from the College website or you can request one to be posted out by telephoning our Information and Booking Centre. A full time booking form can also be found in the full time prospectus.
Full Time Applications
Please complete all the sections of the application form, paying particular attention to the section requesting information on residency (this information is used to work out what fee you will be required to pay). The form can be posted to us using the FREEPOST address at the bottom of the application form, handed in to the Information and Booking Centre in the Gallowgate Centre or faxed to us (fax 01224 612001). Alternatively you can apply directly online - via www.abcol.ac.uk.
You will then receive an acknowledgement letter/email to inform you that your application has been received. At the same time you will be sent a fee status questionnaire so that we can determine whether you will be subject to 'home' or 'overseas' fees.
You will also be asked to send copies of your previous qualifications, a copy of your passport and evidence that you meet the English language entry requirements for your chosen course. For introductory (non-advanced) level courses this is IELTS 5.0 (across all the bands) and for advanced level courses this is IELTS 5.5 (across all the bands). If you have an equivalent English language qualification this may also be acceptable e.g. TOEFL, TOEIC, Cambridge Certificate. Some of the Early Education, Childcare and Healthcare courses require higher level of English. For more information please contact the International Guidance Tutor. If you do not hold any of the above mentioned English qualifications, Aberdeen College does offer an alternative English test for those applying for a full time course ndash; for more information please contact the Information and Booking Centre on 01224 612330 or email email@example.com
In case you are subject to the overseas fee we will write to you with a letter of conditional offer which states the amount of fee to be paid. Once we have received the full payment, we will issue the letter of admission. This is your formal unconditional offer of a place at Aberdeen College, except for students on student visa (TIER4).
Part Time Applications
In order to book a place on any of our part time courses you will need to return the part time booking form to us, using one of the methods mentioned above and enclose payment.
